01 / MECHANICAL · DRAWING

Clarity is a
design skill.

I’m building a foundation in CAD and technical drafting alongside my mechanical engineering studies. I’m interested in the craft of making a drawing easy to read: considered views, consistent line work and a clear visual hierarchy.

From object to readable sheet

An illustrative exercise in arranging front, side and isometric views for clarity. This imagined component has no scale or dimensions and is not for manufacture.

MY DRAFTING APPROACH

Understand first.
Draw with intent.

A useful drawing begins before opening a CAD tool. I want to understand the object and the person who needs to read it: what matters, which views help, and where a drawing could leave room for confusion.

As a first-year student, I’m continuing to develop these skills and welcome the discipline of feedback, revision and learning established drafting standards.

NEXT ON THE DRAWING BOARD

Learning the craft,
sheet by sheet.

I’m looking to grow through junior CAD drafting or draughtsman opportunities where careful work, patience and a willingness to learn are valued.
